Learn About Web Browsers
The browser is application
software you setup on your computer, allowing the
computer to connect to the Internet. Before using
a browser you will need a phone line, modem,
cables to connect the modem and phone to the
computer, and an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
First sign with an ISP to provide
service to the Internet and obtain a browser,
typically Netscape Navigator or Microsoft
Internet Explorer. Then connect the modem, phone
line, and cables. Make sure they are working
properly. Setup the browser with the information
provided by your ISP. This will put the browser
icon on your computer. Double click on the
browser icon to start the browser. If configured
properly, the modem will dial out to the ISP's
computer which in turn links you to the Internet.
